Removing a bilge pump

The Mayfair bilge pump in my X21 has stopped working. I’ve removed & replaced several of these in the past, but for some reason the cartridge will not come out of the canister. I’ve lifted the tab & turned the cartridge both directions, but it simply will not release. I’ve checked my other two (aerator & recirculation) just to make sure I was doing it right, and had no problems.

Has anyone had a problem like this?

Sounds like a melt down that stuck the propeller to the housing, might have to replace the whole thing.
