    Jackplate flotation

Anyone ever put dock bumpers in their jackplate for flotation? I had a workout ball in mine, worked great until it started leaking and I can't find the leak. I can't figure out how to keep the bumpers in the jackplate without tying them together and I want it as clean as possible

I used them and used wire ties to keep them together. Had a lower and upper cover on plate and unless you were looking for them you didn't know they were there, Used black ones of course.

I tried but never found any that fit right. I use 4 jr size basket balls. (Tougher than the cheap wally balls.)

I have 3 in there right now, wish they made them in red in the small size, kinda looked cool with the red workout ball in there, filled up the holes on the side. but I think it need 3 more small bumpers

Get anther 55cm ball and put duck tape on all the exposed bolts and sharp edges inside your JP. The ball is more buoyant than the bumpers because it fills all the voids with air and does't weigh anything in comparison to the bumpers.

Can't find another one in red, or I would have done that already, and that seems like the best way to go. Nichols Racing use to have a floating jackplate, but they don't list it anymore and I think it was expensive

I have an exercise ball in mine...I made a small plate that sticks up and bolts to the bottom plate in the back. This prevents the ball from coming out the back. On my 21, not sure it helps it float but I think it prevents water from catching in the jp during hole shot...

It helps, I can notice a difference when I don't have the ball in the jackplate, and it really helps when you shut down off plane, doesn't take as much throttle to keep the backwash down

I have 2 5.5x20 in my 14in hydro plate. Deflate and have the ends stick out the holes, air them back up. Raised the rear a good 3 inches

Rubber Basket Balls........... The noodle deal is dumb, they will get saturated and offer no flotation. Just deflate 2 medium “rubber” basket balls and face the spot where they take air near the openings in the jackplate.

That's what I thought, so with the ends through the holes, you don't need to tie them down

I'll keep my big workout ball!!!
Lighter weight, fills the complete jackplate void with an air bladder, pull it around the cross bars in the jackplate, air it up and done!!!!
