Do I need separate water separator?

I have a 2002 merc 175 efi (0T566138) , I put a separate additional water separator inline however I'm not sure it's really needed? It stated leaking a little bit so I was thinking about just removing it. I am pretty sure that engine has its own filter.... Just wondering

    Thanks Bill

Not sure, it does have an on board filter but I don't know if it's also a water separator. I'll have to check

Joe was saying your engine DOES have it's own separating filter. DO NOT add additional filters.
