    1996 2 stroke 115hp (tilt trim issue)

Small amount of fluid is leaking around where the ram moves up and down. Like the area the shaft slides.

Easy fix? What do I need to do?

Can I leave the tilt and trim assembly on the boat...disconnect the top of the ram with the motor and prop motor up and just remove ram?

Or do I have to pull the whole assembly off the boat? If so, is this a hard job?

Any and all help/advice would be great...thanks

    Awesome...thanks

This may turn this from a $200+ job to $20

From the looks of it...I think I can tackle it.

As far as getting air out of the system when I put it all back together...Do I just fill with fluid, trim all the way up, fill again...operate down and then up, fill again...etc...until the fluid is stable?

Ok got the tilt and trim unit off, ram out but I can't figure out how to get either end of the ram off so I can replace cap seals.

Does either end screw off? And if so how do you vice it to screw it off? Without damaging any of the surface?
