Mercury motor help

Oil injection went out on my 1997 225 mariner
motor started bogging, I came off plane and killed it

when cool I tried to start it

locked up

i found a 2011 Pro XS
guy put new powerhead on it that has 300 hours
he hit a pipeline and destroyed lower and mid section

insurance wrote him a check for repair, he bought a 300

question is, will the 3.0 Pro XS and adapter plate bolt to my mid section????

i was told mercury has not changed mid sections, but installed adapter adapter plate to mate up

can anyone answer this question??
