Remove the seat back cushion that should be velcro’d In place.
Scotty - When I did my 2004 Cougar you needed to remove the bottom cushion and the square frame was riveted into the bench. If you look at my post below you can see the seat after removal. It might help explain. I'm not exactly sure if yours is the same but I would think so.
