    Question CANT STAB HPDI LU

I lost my skeg at Amsted nd had to remove lower unit for repairs. Had the water pump replaced and am now trying to get the lower unit on. I had the motor in netural when I removed it and it is still in netural. I have a strap holding the lower unit in p lace. I raised t he lower unit until the studs are just above the the lower unit. I then move the lower unit side to side. thinking th spline
is engaged I try to raise the lu to ingage the shifter rod but the lu wont raise up enough to stab the shifter rod. What am I doing wrong

There is a chance that the splines on the drive shaft and coupler on the crank are butted up. I have just moved the flywheel or the shaft just a bit or if your brave tap the key real quick. Just a hunch. Cj
