    Shoot thru transducer removal

Adding a shoot thru Hull transducer to my helix setup, I need to remove one of the old unused transducers that are epoxied in to make room. Any tips to getting the old one out without damaging the fiberglass? This is on a Ranger 2003 185VS. Thanks in advance

Put a short 2x4 up against it and whack the other end with a rubber mallet.

I’ll give that a swing, any tips at getting the epoxy up so I can reuse the spot?

As long as it’s not loose, just glue on top of it.

I'v had the best luck using a heat gun to soften the epoxy, pry up the old transducer, the just peal away the softened epoxy.

Old post but very relevant even today. Had all my tools out but only needed the heat gun and a hammer tap. Thanks for the tip!

Knock it off with hammer, it usually pops right off. I always sand the area down to glass before putting new epoxy down to get better readings.
