    Driving lessons

So I think I figured out some of my Chine problem. I dont have a gauge for my Bobs. I think I was burying my LU too deep in the water. So my boat runs the most stable at 13-15 psi on my pressure gauge. But at WOT, I have to lean on the wheel hard left. There is no steering just run straight, in order to make adjustmentsto right or left, I have to let out of the gas. So what do I need to do to correct this? I usually run my trim so the tail is at top of cowl.

I was able to get rid of a lot of my chine walk by raising the jack plate. As long as you’re still getting good water pressure you should be good. There’s a lot more experienced guys than me that might have additional info for you though.

Explain further why you can't make slight adjustments?

You should be able to just bump the wheel and make slight adjustments.

If you need to turn, you need to trim down a bit, make your turn and them trim back up. Be sure to watch your water pressure in the turn to be sure you don't lose WP.

Yes I do have a TM on my Pro xs. Currently running a 25 temptest. The tourqeto the right will not allow me to turn to the left. I have to hold hard left on the wheel the whole time I am running WOT. I may still have too much LU in the water could be the problem??

    exactly
thats the torque of spnning the prop...
    every prop is different...
and actually as you LOWER the engine run height the torque will LESSEN at mid range speeds...
higher u run it, the more torque u will notice...

i run a 29 bravo xs on mine day in/out...at WOT can drive with one finger on wheel at 3.75-4.25 on the JP gauge...thats a 4 blade though...
3 blades definatley draw more torque...you can also notice this when jumping waves in big swells....a 3 blade cause the boat to list, 4 blade will be more balanced

Engine height can increase steering torq but trim will increase it more. Try using less trim and more engine height.

Something doesn't sound right. With hydraulic steering, you should still be able to steer the boat easily. I've run surfacing props on my Gambler and could steer it easily. I can steer easily with one finger with my Bravo.

On that note, have you checked the hydraulic fluid level?
My 97 209 had a filler hole on top of the steering column. m

No but I will check it. I didn't have a problem Tues night but the lake we were fishing I couldn't make a long run. I believe also I am over propped for this elevation (maybe a touch for where I was too) getting a 23 temptest to try instead. I'll report back after the tournement this weekend. Thanks guys
