    Removing carpet

I am ripping up my carpet to replace it. It’s pretty roached so most of it came up no problem but there are a few places where there is some heavy glue and carpet fibers. My question is can I use a scraper on the deck like I did on the lids?

I used that in conjunction with a 3M Roloc disc on an angle die grinder on my aluminum boat. Also, used Goo Gone on some of the areas that were very stubborn and then thoroughly cleaned with Acetone.

Thanks, Bruce. I went ahead and started using a scraper and Acetone yesterday evening. Seems to be working well. Another couple hours and I should be working on cutting the rug.

Use 24 or 36 grit disk on a 6-7” grinder- it’ll take no time and be cleaner than using solvents. A scraper with a knife sharp flat edge will make quick work of the less accessible spots.

Also: use a respirator if you grind any fiberglass... or reserve that work for the solvents. Safety first!
