What is the stock number for that transducer and did it come with your unit or was that an add’l cost item?

The model is XM 14 20 MDI T

No SOLIX or ONIX comes with a DI transducer. It is an additional cost accessory.

No, SOLIX and ONIX transducers have a 14 pin plug.

The Helix transducers have a 7 pin plug. Its version is XM 9 MDI T

    https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.c...-di-transducer

It is the standard transducer for the Helix MEGA DI GPS G2N units in the Helix 9, Helix 10, and Helix 12 versions.

OK. Didn’t know that standard transducer was “Low Q”.

If you are inclined to use a trolling motor installation, get the XTM version. It is a trolling motor puck style with the extra internal shielding.

Great images I have never seen anything that clear on my onix. Maybe I will try a new transducer.

!!!!!! all the pics in post 21 are with a Onix and stock transducer. All the other 2d screen shots are from the solix and onix networked together with the dual spectrum transducer connected to the Solix

Don't forget boat speed greatly affects weather you get good arches or more of a straight line.

Id assume the slower equals longer arches slightly faster equals higher arches? Should you alter the settings based on speed, or is there a point somtimes that just doesnt have good returns? Like is youre going slower you just dont get tight arches?

Asking because Im going to be using my Helix 9 ( if thats what I go with...still debating on what to buy ) on a kayak, which goes from zero speed to about 4mph

Arch height is a result of distance from the transducer--the peak of the arch is the closest distance to the transducer.
Arch length is a result of time within the sonar pulses and scroll speed.

The most Time you get with a Dual Spectrum transducer is spec 42 degrees, the most Time you get with a Dual Beam transducer is spec 60 degrees.

another thing to consider is screen scroll speed if you are concerned about getting good arches, slow down screen scroll speed. The faster the screen speed the longer the arch. In these screen shots you can see the screen speed setting and how it can stretch an arch or give it more of a pronounced arch.

these shots are all in the same area with the same species of fish (stripers). First 2 Screen shots are all taken within several feet of each other.

    screen speed 10

    snp0204192240.jpg

The fish on the left are at a screen speed of 10, the fish on the right side of the tree going up the small hump are at 5. you can see how much more of an arch the slower screen speed gives the fish return

    snp0204192330.jpg

    this one is at 5

I don't really base my screen speed on what kind of arch is made... Long or short, that doesn't make much difference to me. I base it more on structure differentiation... Sometimes the faster is better in seeing the structure details as well ad bringing out "things" (as in fish) hidden within the structure.
