So I think I have reached a point in life where I am seriously considering selling the Allison. However the motor is currently down.
The motor is a 1997 Johnson 225 hp Venom. The lower unit is locked up. I was out on the water after adjusting the shift linkage, and I obviously got it wrong. When I came off of the throttle it locked up.
There are a couple of other issues with the motor that would/should be repaired. The lower bushing on the central steering pivot shaft is shot (the one at the bottom of the midsection).
So I am figuring that the motor needs a new/rebuild lower; shift cables/linkage adjusted; the bushing repaired; and a basic tune up (if I was to bring it in to get the other work done I would also do a tune up).
So with all of that, it would take a few dollars to get it going again.
Now I know most Allison owners do not want a Johnson so most of you wouldn't even keep the motor repaired or not.
So should I even bother with repairing the motor or just let it go as is?
