Sell as is or Repair First?

So I think I have reached a point in life where I am seriously considering selling the Allison. However the motor is currently down.

The motor is a 1997 Johnson 225 hp Venom. The lower unit is locked up. I was out on the water after adjusting the shift linkage, and I obviously got it wrong. When I came off of the throttle it locked up.

There are a couple of other issues with the motor that would/should be repaired. The lower bushing on the central steering pivot shaft is shot (the one at the bottom of the midsection).

So I am figuring that the motor needs a new/rebuild lower; shift cables/linkage adjusted; the bushing repaired; and a basic tune up (if I was to bring it in to get the other work done I would also do a tune up).

So with all of that, it would take a few dollars to get it going again.

Now I know most Allison owners do not want a Johnson so most of you wouldn't even keep the motor repaired or not.

So should I even bother with repairing the motor or just let it go as is?

I would definitely just save your money, and not fix it.

The pins were slightly damaged, and after I saw the pictures of the xb21’s with the pins removed I removed these. I am more of a subtle type of person, so I removed the other decals as well. To me the boat looks much better without them. Besides if I have to tell you it’s an Allison, then you wouldn’t understand lol.

The trailer is welded aluminum. the bunk supports and the steps are all welded. I never found it to have the floating problem that some people have with aluminum trailers. It was built when I bought the boat back in November 2011. I had it spec'd to about 90-91 inches so that it could (barely) fit through a 94" single wide garage door. I did not (nor do not) have a length issue, only a width issue. I also made sure that the tongue weight was high. You can see that the axel is pretty far back.

I did use the boat in salt water, which is partly why I went with aluminum.

The original owner kept the boat indoors when not in use. I also kept it indoors when not in use.
