Oops I hit the wrong button and it posted before I was done. As I was saying new boats values absolutely TANK after purchase so I sure as heck don't buy them for resale value. Bottom line if I was in the purchase mode and someone did a great restore that was documented I would pay a decent price for it to avoid the new boat price cause it would be basically new just not as expensive. If/when I do one for myself I would do it for the enjoyment and to keep some dollars in the checkbook to get an end result of a modern, reliable boat.
