Buddy of mine picked up this boat. Said it was 1 of only a handful made. Anybody know anything about this model?
Thing was clean.. had a tunnel hull.. very sharp.

Looks just like a buddy of mines. I think his is a 1985. Has a 150 on it tho and a single axle trailer. It is a 375, not sure on the VT part. His stickers are in pretty bad shape (keeps is outside)
They were among the first models that Stratos' founder built. I think they built them for a couple years. Earl Benz started Stratos in 84 an sold it somewhere around 88 or 89 to OMC, and I don't think they were still being built at that time. I do know that the VT stood for Vee Tunnel Hull and they use to have one they called the VT Rocket. Think it was a 200 though.

That's a clean rig First bass boat I owned was a 1987 Stratos 180vt Rocket had a 175 Johnson on it. Man would it get you wet
You art to driven the 200 vt rocket with a 200 hp motor . It was rated for a 250 hp motor ? Todd MORAGN said they was to heavy to work like a real tunnel v boat should , but they show drive good on a glass finihed lake , but if the water gets a littler rough , boy they are a hand full .That was in 1986 that was before the 201 was built i think i had a 189 v then in 1988 got the 201 which i still have today >
And yes they stoped making them around 1986. That year they made two VT Rockets one was a 180VT and a 200 VT . the 180 VT was rated for 90 - 185 HP and the 200 VT was rated for 150- 250 HP . One was 18' 2" with a 90" beam and the other was 20' 4" with a 91 " beam . I heard he stoped making them because of Insurance reason , but i never find out why ?
And it was around 1989 he sold stratos to OMC and strated Javelin Boats
If you go to Screamandfly.com theirs a bad ass 20 on their that the Guy played and played with setup finally running good numbers. The Hull was a splash of OMC ultimate guru and tunnel sport builder of the Stoker, like most splashes the stratosphere were to heavy. Go to YouTube.com and their are killer videos of them. On scream and fly a dude took a stratos 200 or 201 and made a offshore type of deck, its for sale and you can't miss it because its stars and stripes its a cool boat because the Hull is so recognized.
we need some more pics of this rig

I had one the same color as that one. It was a 375 VT Rocket.
Boat had a 1980 2 liter Merc and it. Turn on a dime and was fun to run.
I just bought a 1985 Stratos VT Rocket VT 375
it absolutely hauls butt! I’m so happy I found I found this boat.
I think the 375 became the new 179V boat as of 1986. In 1986 they made 2 VT boat's . 180VT and the 200 VT which was tunnel hull boat's.
