    2005 z20 with 225 etech prop recommendations

    HI Guys & Gals

I bought a 2005 Z20. it has a 225 etech. Motor tests out good by my wrench. It has a 26 pitch raker 3 blade prop. I am just hitting 5000rpms, 5120 best test run with the computer. I am only getting 56mph from the GPS. From what I read this boat should push high 60's without a jack plate and maybe 70 with. What do you all recommend for a prop? I know this one has had work already since it has numbers stamped on it.

I was a little disappointed since I got the same speed out of my 200 on a Reata fish & Ski that I sold.

So what do you recommend for a prop and pitch? I saw on one place I should drop down to a 25?

What's prop to pad? Do you have a jackplate? My z20 was a consistent 68 mph boat with a 225 pro xs and a 10in hydraulic plate. If memory serves me correct that is the right prop for a evinrude but you should be close to high 60s

That is way low on RPMs, and 26” on a Raker might be sluggish (too much pitch) anyway. If I were you I’d either try a known good 24” Raker or a 25” Fury 3. The latter is typically a very good prop for a rig like yours, but requires a different hub kit than you have now. Hub kits are not terribly expensive, but still.

Definitely not a 25 Fury, if you are going to try a Fury try a 24. That is what i run on my Z20 w/225 Pro XS
