is the "d ring" really necessary? I made a set last night without the ring. I did drill a couple holes where you could bring the hooks back and hook into the pvc if need be. The place I will use this the most has the docks where I can hook underneath anyhow.

I stopped at Ace in Coon Rapids yesterday during lunch, but they only had 1/4", so figured I was SOL. But after reading this, I just called Frattallone's and they so have 3/8"! Thanks!

Going to ask the same question I ask on there main forum....Does this keep the boat from swinging forward/backward and running into the dock? I really like this idea!!

I don't see how it can but it seems easy to tie a bumper to one end or the other.

Better yet put a Oodles Mega Jumbo Foam Noodle 5" over the PVC and it won't matter if it swings forward or back it will be protected.

Here's some shock cord for you all too! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
