Re: 294 prop testing results. With updates***** (Hookset41a)

Mark, I have no idea how these props will react with a Rude, hopefully they will work just as good as they do with my Merc.

Re: 294 prop testing results. With updates***** (ep72)

Ok, question for ya..... I just picked up a new 27 txp to play with. I thought it came set up for the pvs plugs but now realize that was not correct. Any idea if this will spin up ok without the pvs? Or do I need to just have it drilled first? Hate to put any more money into it if I don't know if it will work.... Any ideas on cost for this? Thanks for the help:)

Im gonna guess your gonna need the pvs holes. You will be able to get your money back out of it if you dont like and want to sell.

It may work ok on the Rude, they don't need as much ventilation as the Mercury.

Man I can't even get close to these numbers. I haven't tried a different prop but right now, my best was in winter was almost 71mph but now 68mpH is all I'm getting. I've played with height and right now 3" below pad seems the best for my 25 tempest plus @ 5600 to 5800.

Same here. I've ran the 25 T1 that came on it when I bought mine (used) at 2 1/4 below 6100rpm at 71-72. And ran a used 27 T1 same setup to 73 at 5800. I don't see how they are getting some of these numbers. Maybe both of my used props are off some how.

ive got an 06 294 pro xl and a 200 HPDI. I've trashed the 25 on a stump and the 27 sucks in the summer loaded so which one should I replace my busted up 25 with?

    Running a 25P 3 blade is a crime on a 294 with jackplate.

Tempest plus 26p is good all around for inland lakes.A tad small light load.Perfect for tourney load.

26 fury is solid on light/med loads.Better top end then tempest 26.

On the hunt for a 4 blade.Post up what your running.

Never elimate it.Will lesson walk the higher you can raise plate.

4 blade prop may help reduce walk a bit.

A prop that give great bow lift like a Tempest will help reduce the walk, at least in my experience.

We know what TXP's will do. Has anyone tried the Turbo Lightning or FXP props? Since they're the same diameter.

I'm getting better at driving my 294 SHO combo and am also wondering about 26 pitch T1 or FXP. I can spin my 25 T1 and Bravo up near 5900 RPM in 80 degree water and air. I could not get 5500 RPM with a 26 Bravo 1 with XS style venting. Holeshot excellent on 25 pitch and okay on 26. I have not trimmed out all the way due to chine and smallish lake size. Prop to pad is around 1 inch with 6 inch hydro JP. I expect to get more than 69 mph on bigger water and better conditions, but not mid to upper 70. It gets hard to drive over mid sixties even with the Bravos. With the 25 bravo and medium to heavy load driving mid sixty is easy on the handling aspect. Maybe if I added 2 inch spacers to my jackplate I would be pleasantly surprised.

I thought i would throw this out here ! When this was posted the 294 had a diff hull ,than the newer 09 hull which is EVO which is faster than the old hull. I was told .
So you guy and gals may want to play around with more Props and heights ?

Numbers from this weekend in my 2010 294 Evo. Just me, full tournament load, full gas tank, 25M prop, around 5900 RPMs, high 80s air and water temps, 6" of setback, roughy 2.5" below pad (give or take a 1/4")..... 72.4 mph. I feel there is more there even with this prop if I go up on the plate another 1/4". This will be a good backup prop since there's enough HP's to turn a 26, even in the heat. All this said, I think it's a great starting point and good baseline since I've already got 2" spacers ready to install for more setback. Gonna try and get my hands on a TXP or two and test some more.

What did they do different to the hull? I thought it was just the Top Cap that changed?

    Thanks
