2000 Stratos 21 ft SS extreme and 2004 Evinrude 225 ho

I'm repowering my 21ss extreme from a 2000 Evinrude 200 horsepower ficht to a 2004 Evinrude 225 ho Ram ficht. I've been running a 26in raker with vent holes drilled in it. I feel like the 225 might be too much for it. Any suggestions for this set up?

    Edit
2000 21 SS Extreme, 2004 Evinrude 225 HO, Raker 26, can't get to full throttle, prop blows out at 5200 and 52 mph GPS, prop to pad is 5.5, H2O pressure is 15

What rpms are you turning now? I would think it'll run fine.

I haven't even mounted it on the boat yet, but my 200 horse Evinrude would spin it at 6000

I had the same boat with a Rude Ficht 225 on it,Detweiler 6” hydro plate. A Raker 24 ran very well on it. If you were really turning it to 6000, I wonder if you had excess slip or maybe the tach was off? I think mine would turn 57-5800.

I finally got the boat in the water today, new motor ran great, boat popped up on plane with no problem at all. Unfortunately with the 26 raker, I was only doing about 52 miles an hour at 5000 RPMs. Every time I would push the motor past that, my RPM shot up to 6,000 I was not going any faster. I even tried Feathering the throttle but it was very difficult to keep it hooked up.

I had a 2000 20SS Extreme with Fitch 200 and ran a 24" and turned 5800 and 71 MPH on GPS. I had a 2004 Stratos 201 Pro XL with 225 Vmax and 25" prop ran 72 turning 5800. I think the 26 raker may too much. Your boat should be running 72 -73 MPH setup properly.

I don't think it could be too much prop, where I'm at now when I I'm running at 5200 RPMs and only doing 52 miles an hour, that's way too slow. Then when I give it gas they shoot up towards 6000 RPMs but I don't go any faster. I guess I could check the RPM gauge but I never thought that would be a problem.

My next step is to check the pad to prop shaft height, have to get around to doing that very soon

I checked prop shaft height to pad and I'm at 5.25, so I think that's too low to begin with...

    Open to suggestions

I triple checked it, I think it's more like 5.5

I move the engine up so the prop shaft to pad is now 3.5, I switched out the raker 26 for a renegade 25 that's been worked on and pitched up to 26. Boat ran much better with the renegade. But I still feel like I'm over revving. I was at 64 miles an hour at 5800, speed was climbing but I ran out of water

Did you try the raker with the prop to pad at 3.5 ? The raker if in good shape will be faster than the renegade!

That has definitely crossed my mind, but I bought a Croxton Razor 26 from props for sale, should work out better for me.
