    Tracker PT 185 complete

I finally finished restoring my 2001 Tracker today--new 24 oz Syntec carpet and 3M 1080 vinyl wrap. A lot of work, but I am really pleased with the results. I used a 30 ft x 7 ft roll of Syntec carpet with virtually nothing left over, and no bad cuts. Amazed that the boat had that much carpet in it. As for the wrap, the metallic gray was 22 ft long x 5 ft, and the red and white metallic stripes were 2 ft x 5 ft each color. Used 1.66 gallons of contact cement on the carpet. I lost track of the hours, but I was not in a rush.

Any issues with opening the lids with that heavy carpet?

I did do a little trimming with my Wahl trimmer, but it wasn't a lot. The carpet is very dense and you really can't tell that the pile height was reduced about 50% on the edges. I anticipated that it would be a problem, fortunately it was less than I expected.

Thanks! A lot of hours went into the restoration, and as usual I spent a lot of time in details. Won't make a bit of difference in my catch, but now I can say that this is my boat, not another one like it. I learned a lot about how these boats are built, everything that could be removed was. While I had it apart I ran heavier wire to the bow for the TM, as well as a spare circuit, and a dedicated heavier circuit for the Humminbird. Not much left to replace except the seats, maybe that will happen next year, though the original seats are still in good shape.

Looks great! Brings back memories, my first boat was a PT-185. It could go anywhere a fish could go.
