Made plans to go up there a while back during the week of 5/7. I am now thinking this might be a waste of time with how the weather has been. Anyone been up there yet?

Probably not a waste, always fish to be caught up there. You might actually hit it perfect and arrive when the first wave of fish move into bay. Calling for high 70s several days this coming week. Do you have boat that is able to fish the main lake?
as long as the weather cooperates while you're there, you'll be fine. These fish only wait so long before they do what they need to do, and that's EAT!!! I'm going up this Tuesday to scope the bay out.
I am in the same boat so to speak, planning to go the second week of May for 3 days fishing and then again a week later. Any feedback would definitely be appreciated.
The weather has a few things screwed up, but the smallies are moving in to the Bay. Catching most fish in the 14 to 18 foot zones, but they may be in other areas...nothing shallow, as the jerkbait bite hasn't worked for me. Each day will get better. Main lake has been muddied up pretty good, so I haven't even tried.
As long as the wind cooperates, you should catch fish.
Largemouth action has not heated up, but still catching fair numbers in shallower.
Water temp Friday was still in the 40s.
IlI' be on the water next couple of days, I'll try to keep you posted
Thanks for the report Stully. Upper 40s or lower 40s?
47 to 49
54 in the lagoons
Thanks Stully
If you get back out this weekend I would appreciate a water temp update. Looks like we are gonna try and get up there on May 10 for the first trip, fish Thursday to Saturday
The water temp is actually a little warmer than what I thought you were going to say. I figured 42 or so

Everyone thank you for the feedback, very much appreciated.
Sunshine today but cold. Smallmouth action was a little difficult as the SW winds picked up and most of the Bay had white caps.
Did best in the 12 to 14 foot zones, all on blades.
Caught some really nice largemouth on drop offs in shallower water.
Even caught a toad of a northern.
Water still 49 in the bay, 54 in lagoons
Bite must have tough, as there were only 3 trailers left in the parking lot at preques isle marina when I left at 3:00
See what tomorrow brings
Im headed up the third week in may. I was wondering what launch is the best to use and also looking for Recommendations on hotel that’s close by. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I hope the third week isn’t to late.
Third week will be spot on. The last two weeks of may, and the first two in june the bass will be crazy active in the bay, but so will a lot of boats. Sneak out on the lake if the weather allows.
The marina launch is by far the best, its on presque isle.
Comfort in on 12th is best. They have charging post in the back to charge. Lots of guys stay there.
Awesome thanks a bunch really appreciate the info.
Today was just plain fun
The wind finally chased me off, but the smallies were biting and good size
Don't know if they are shallow, I didn't even try.
Gonna be a good year
What were they biting on?

I throw primarily blabe baits and crankbaits for smallies. Next week ill throw a jerkbait more.
Largemouth have been hitting jerkbaits, red eyes, and spinner baits.
Thats just me.....other guys have been successful throwing other baits.
Thanks Stully We are heading up for the weekend. I have always had good luck with lizards.
Could someone give a report for over weekend? Water temp, crowds, bite, etc. Thanks!
