Wondering if the ice is gone on the Waupaca chain. It's a little over an hour for me to get there, was hoping to drop the boat in this weekend and get the outboard all broken in and the trolling motor calibrated and whatnot so I'm ready to go for the opener. Don't want to drive over there and find ice...

In case anyone is wondering, the chain is open.
Just worried about up north for the opener now. Sunday there was still 22" of ice on Minocqua.

I'm going to call a few bait shops between 64 & 8 thursday/Friday and see where the ice is at. If I have to, I'll just fish Waupaca. It's still early enough in the season that recreational traffic should be at a minimum over there. I hope. There's always the no-wake lakes, too.Originally Posted by jonmay
