    Ranger RT Trailer Update

I finalized the order for my new trailer and thought it important that I post some improvements I noticed.
I also learned that EZ-Loader is now building Rangers Aluminum Boat Trailers. To me it is no big deal, because they will be built to Ranger design and standards.

Looks like the winch mount has been updated. Note: This may be a very recent change, the only trailer I saw with this was still shrink wrapped.

The rear step has been extended which should provide more strength

The Jack mount is different from mine as well

Thanks for posting Bill. The rear steps and fenders is much nicer besides being stronger also cleaner looking. My tracker has the steps now they dont but only on the pt175 i have no idea why they went backwards on that. On the winch stand wish they had braced both the front and rear of the stand this will help but the rear will still take alot of strain. Someone else building the trailers is gonna cause the sky to fall for some folks tho im sure.

I'm shocked that they don't build more of them for ranger since I believe they are right next door if I remember correctly.

Looks like a good fix to me but only time will tell. Keep an eye on it...better safe than sorry. Good luck with the new trailer Bill.

They are next door to BassCat in Midway AR. The story at the dealer was that Ranger needed additional capacity so they offloaded the trailers to EZ-Loader.

They built Champions trailers back when they were in Mountain Home.

Thanks for correcting me, I remembered they were next to one of them.... I've only been there once and didn't remember which one apparently.

This is the new design I mentioned in the other trailer tread. It is a big improvement to my friends 178. His is a 2014 or 15. As Roy said my 12 year old trailer has the full step on the rear also. You guys buying this trailer will definitely love the step. When exiting the boat you don’t have to hunt for it. Throw your leg over and don’t worry. You got about 4’ to hit something you can stand on.

    What year was your trailer?
My 2016 trailer looks like your new one minus the gusset on the winch mount.

For what it's worth, my 2018 has the gusset, but, not the new strut under the roller (where the other OP's broke).

I will be more diligent about inspecting mine going forward...

Thanks for the pictures Bill. That top part is different than mine. Would you happen to have a top view of it, looking down? The gusset at the bottom is larger than mine also.

I thought about needing a top view because there are changes there as well. I will be going back to the dealer in the morning. I’ll get a pic then.

I returned to the dealer and took pics of the top of the winch stand.
This pic is from a Ranger made Trailer :

This is the new style on all the EZ-Loader Trailers.

I am going to put some flat steel in the inside area of both of the arms where you have the arrow and coat it with road armor. I also might put another brace downwards. I am liking the new changes. The new technique is better than what I have but maybe they have learned from their mistakes. Mine is still in good shape as you saw, but I don't drive my boat all the way up to the eye and hit the roller. I don't think it is made very solid on the older models. As much as I use mine I'm lucky I have not had a problem. Thanks for the pictures.

Glad to see they did something different there otherwise I think we would be seeing alot more issues in that area. That stamped rib lets them still use the thinner material which is fine it is cost effective too. Its amazing what sheet metal will hold with a few breaks in it.

Looks like you got taken care of. Repairing things like this is easy if you know how to weld. I have seen really well built trailers need to have the winch stand repaired. It takes a beating for sure. I like how most trailers these days have that part bolted to the frame as it allows for easy adjustment and repair. Heck you can buy aftermarket winch stands that should bolt right on if you ever need to.

Looks like my 17 trailer has most everything but the added rib. Good to know about the issue so it can be watched. I'll have to brush up on the trailer warranty if ever needed. You would think Ranger would replace that part on a two year old trailer under warranty if there was no obvious abuse.

yes the trailer warranty is 3 years.
It occurs to me that they will probably replace it with the new design. For sure after all the old ones are gone.

Has anyone priced a new winch stand? Would be easy to replace.
