    Totally agree.
I couldn't believe that there were 3 separate cable runs from the trolling motor head mount. I agree that power lines and communications cables have to have noise protection but that is easy fix at assembly level.
If all cables came out at or near foot pedal that would look nice. And a universal sonar plug/wiring at both ends would be fantastic.
A friend tor his new trolling motor apart and ran the SI transducer cable through the same area that the US2 was after he removed the US2. Looks great and has no loose cables flopping around.

I twisted mine one turn and now the cable lays close to the TM mount. When deployed it now no longer lays that big sweeping loop over my Depth finder. And does not inhibit the cables.

    Looks great!!

What do you do with the US2 cable if you are not using it yet? I just have mine wound up and tied to the coiled cable.

Take the top off and unhook it at the connection.

You can take the top off the control head and just tuck the US2 pigtail up into the head, then close it back up. All gone.

If it's the US2, you're looking at the extension cable. it will separate in the head. If you're looking at an ethernet cable (IPilot Link), then it does not separate in the head and you have to coil it up if not in use.

Nice, except with the original post you can't use the Ultrex 360 mount if you ever want a 360. I just ran all my cables down the trolling motor steering cable to my trolling motor tray an into the graph. Not as pretty but works for me.

Why does everyone have to come up with their own solution?

They did it to keep the price down.

I still can't believe the Minn Kota engineers haven't figured out a way to keep most of the cables inside the frame and/or figured out a wireless transducer.

I love my Ultrex but I should run that company. Because I would have sent that cabling nightmare TM back to design in a heart beat.

That's what I used on the lower portion of the shaft below the corrugated conduit.

Great question aside, that’s a helluva job on on the aluminum mounts you made!

    What nightmare ??

    Clean and simple.
I ran the transducer cable through the steering box--Used a few low profile cable ties--- some expandable sheathing to bundle cables---two cable straps (yellow circles) to keep cables in place.

This way there is nothing hanging off to get hung on brush. No electrical tape to get hot and turn into goo. And still able to adjust motor height for shallow water. Works good for me.
