How can I make my Lakemaster Plus redraw faster?

I have a Helix 12 and zooming in/out is a slow and frustrating process. It is on the front and when I am running, it can't keep up with me at 45 MPH. I am considering adding one at the console but this is useless if it is this slow.

I can't be the only one with this problem. I have the latest update installed.

I had that problem with my Lowrance units but since I have switched over to Humminbird units that has pretty much went away. When heading across the water I usally run my around the 500' view. Once i get to where I am at I zoom in when going slower.
So far......I have not had any problems with the mapping keeping up even when I am running around 60mph.

Through the panel on the front of the boat. Changing that soon. Will that help this?

It could - running direct power via 10 gauge or larger wire would be a good first step. If you are running the lakemaster aerial photo overlays you can try turning those off as well.

I did that. It helped. When I turn the unit completely off it doesn’t lag either. Turning off features so something will work correctly is a sucky way to have to operate.

I’m going to run dedicated power to the front to see if it changes anything.

What zoom level are you attempting to run higher speed at? Typically I navigate at 500-1000' then zoom into 100' for fishing purposes. If you happen to be zoomed in at 100' and running high speed your overrunning the map, much like overrunning the headlights on a fast car or bike.

I had this issue once with my 1198 and Navionics on Oneida lake where there is a ton of contour/navigational data. I ended up using split navigation panes with one zoomed in and one zoomed out - that worked. That said I haven't had this with any of the newer units.

There is also a setting for velocity offset(under the Chart tab). Turn that on and set the speed at the point you usually plane out. When the offset kicks in (20mph for me) , it will position the boat icon at the bottom of the screen(from the normal center of the screen) therefore requiring fewer refresh cycles of the screen. You may also need to zoom out a click or 2 also. Bob

Good suggestion. The setting is Vessel Offset and then below that is Offset Speed.

Bob, set to the point you "plane out". That will allow fewer refresh cycles at all speeds?

I have the same problem with my Lowranc/Navionics quite often, but it seems to be only the parts of the lake that have "more info" on the chart.
A LARGE amount of T Bend had not been surveyed with the Navionics card I have. the places I run that show the 1 foot contours are the places my Map is chasing my ass.

Drives me nutts to be running through a high timber area and my Map is creeping off my screen towards the floor.

The speed you set is the point at which the offset will begin. You don't need the offset if you are going slower and you want to see the map in all directions rather than just the map straight in front of you

mine is simply set at 5mph. this is just so you see more mapping while running at high speed. it doesn't draw the map any faster.
