Are 30 lb bags uncommon up there in the spring? I take it that they are... The area that choothim's buddy caught his fish, has given up some monster smallmouth this year, and some huge bags of browns as well...

I honestly have no idea. I haven’t heard of many 30# bags of smallmouth anywhere. I think the Sturgeon Bay Open in its heyday rarely ever saw a #6 average

Our season in the spring is closed here in Ontario but in the fall high 20's and the odd 30 is not uncommon.
