1999 Mercury 225 efi cutting out

I have a 99 merc 225 efi it’s cutting out when I’m trying to get on plane and when I’m slowing down it doesn’t rev up or anything or bogs it’s just a quick hard jolt and then you have to trim down and get on it agin and all is well I hit a log two weeks ago and stopped up the water intake holes on the foot and I got it all cleaned out it did run hot once but as soon as the alarm went off i shut it down and got towed back but it’s not running hot anymore and is peeing water as it should anyone have any ideas on this?

Try new water separator filter and properly gapped new plugs first.
