    Power Trim Issue

My trim started acting up this weekend then went out. The motor still works but the rod does not move. I looked at it and saw this, so I assume all the fluid leaked out and maybe some water got in. My question is Should I take it in or simply tighten it back up, drain and replace fluid? Any ideas? Thanks.

You will need to get new seals for that cap. The shaft seal looks like it is cut. You will also probably need to take it all apart to get all the contaminated fluid out, if it has taken in much water.

Hmm, that is no good. Are you referring to that little black part on top of the cap? That shouldn't be too hard to replace, right?

Ok, the seals are good. We added some fluid and it seems to be working. However, there is definitely some water inside. Any suggestions on the best way to get it out. I was thinking the following:

trim motor up and and lock the pegs
    detach tilt rod from motor
trim all the way down with the cap off
take the trim rods out and suck any fluid out
replace trim rods and refill resevoir

    how does this sound?
