Ram mount short arm or medium at bow?

So I bought a Lowrance HDS9 to put up on the bow of my boat, which I have never had anything there before. I am debating between the 2.25" short arm vs medium arm Ram mount option. I was initially thinking the medium arm so the screen would be higher and closer to me for viewing, but then I started thinking it might be annoying if it was too high where I might hit it with a roll or skip cast. Any insight on the two options?
