    Shimano Calcutta Bearing

I have a couple Calcutta 250 reals that I will never part with and have been using for years. Two years ago I had a reel service do a clean and lube. Well he changed the bearings on me and they are crap. Nothing like the original equipment that came in the reel. They are chattering on a hard cast now and I want them gone. Where is the best place to get a decent set of bearings? I believe there is only one on the spool shaft on a Calcutta?
Have never replaced them so not sure how difficult they are to remove...

Have you oiled them to see if the chatter stops? What about oiling the brakes? That could also be the cause of your noise.

As for replacement bearings, there is one in the frame on the palm side, it’s a 3x10x4, one on the spool, it’s a 5x11x4, and one under the mechanical brake knob, that is a 3x10x4. You will need a spool pin removal tool to change the one on the spool shaft.

If you’re wanting a quality stainless bearing, it’s hard to beat the Hedgehog ZR bearings.
