Four group31 batteries in Ranger 400 series boats?

Anyway to fit 4 group 31 batteries in Ranger 400 series boats without putting one where the spare prop is suppose to be? Don’t feel like having to remove one battery everytime I want access to the bilge area.

I don't think you can. 4 27s needed to use the center plate on my 481-482

Thats what I figured. Did you do any extra supports to the center plate? Looks like in mine it’s just a couple pieces of angle iron that it’s resting on.

    Sure you can.

Go with AGM 27's with the dual battery trays so they sit next to each other. If you have an oil tank, put it where my prop is.

Thats the problem, he either would have a battery or the oil tank where the prop holder is.

I have 4 in my 97 462vs, but yes, you need to remove the spare prop. I put a spare in the rear storage port side.

This is is what I will probably do as discussed with the oil tank. Less weigh on the plastic shelf there than a battery. Just need to find someplace to make me some long runs of battery cables to go across the boat to the other two tm batteries.

I had a 97 461 and just used 3 batteries for everything hooked main motor and 36 volt trolling motor to the three batteries. I originally put a 4th battery where prop goes ruined hole shot so I removed it. Fished a lot of tourneys no problem always brought a jump pack in case

I just added a 4th battery to my 482vs, but the weight of the battery caused the fiberglass ledges that hold the oil tank up to break. I ended up with my oil tank and battery in my bilge area. Ruined my trip and has me looking for some support ideas for that plate.

I have mine in the center on the step for the past 10years no issues. It's the same as my 520.
