plastic cap insert on gas treatment bottle in gas tank...

So after filling up the boat yesterday morning, I was pouring in the Don Weed cocktail when I didn't see the little white round plastic/paper cap seal thing on the fuel treatment bottle stuck to the top. As soon as I poured it in I saw the plastic thing fall into the gas tank.
is she gonna live? I posted in the motor forum too, just worried about it clogging something up.

Had same thing happen. Shop said not to worry about it. Ran it for a few years and never an issue.

There should be a screen on the pickup inside the tank. It won't suck it up into the hose but it could restrict fuel flow at some point. Good luck with whatever you do to handle it.

There's been one from a bottle of StaBil floating around my tank for the last 10 or so years. Don't worry about it!

Just don't do what I did before I thought of the possible negative consequences. I got my little shop vac out and sucked that bad boy right out. After I was done it occurred to me that if those gasoline vapors had hit a spark... well, I hate to think of what might have happened.

Had happen on a portable tank once. Fished it out eventually. I remove the cap and discard that piece before cutting the foil seal.
Then use one bottle to mix 4 ounces of Quickare with 8 ounces of Quickleen.

I had the same thing happen on the 6 gallon portable tank for my 25 hp Yammy. I didn’t know that the cap was in the tank until the end of the season when I emptied the tank to pull it out of the boat for winter. Forget it and enjoy the season.

Had that happen on a new(31K miles) Ford 6.7. We were about 50 mi west of Nashville on I40 at 4am when we got a low fuel warning and the engine gradually shut down. Could let it set for a few minutes and it would start but no power. Assumed it was the low pressure fuel pump since we had been put on the side of the road a couple of weeks earlier for that problem. Truck was under warranty so we had it hauled to a dealer who had it for a couple of weeks of course. Turns out it was a plastic insert from a bottle of Ford diesel supplement blocking the fuel line and the fuel tank had to be pulled. That was one expensive mistake. Tech said that is a common problem that he sees a couple of times a month.

I've done it too. I check real close when pouring things in now. Stuff happens.
