I shouldn't be surprised on how many people can comment on a truck they have no experience with, still entertaining just the same.

Pretty sure I owned one at least.........97 12v 5 spd 4x4.....also had a 96 12v 5 spd 4x4 just like it but in black, but no pics of it.

I pull with a duramax, 36 ft. 5th wheel no problem even in the mountains of nc.
I pull a 5th wheel. Have had 2 truck campers and 2 5th wheelers. Pulled them all with a Chevy and a Ford. The Chevy was a '08 2500HD Alli/DMax. Great truck with no real big issues other than regular maintenance for 124K miles. When hooked up and ready to roll we got 9-11 MPG. With nothing on the back we see 15-17 MPG. After 9 years in the Chevy it was time for a change. (not because of problems) Looked at the "Big 3" and settled on a Ford F350 Super Duty with the 6.7 PSD. It has all the bell & whistles and pulls the 5vr with no problem. I especially like the engine exhaust brake! It really helps stopping the 5vr. Only have about 2K towing miles but we're seeing 10-11 MPG hooked up, and 17+ MPG regular driving. I do know one thing, and that is, I would not pull what I have pulled with a gasser. The torque and power of a diesel is incredible. Yes, it will cost you up front and at the pump, but I think it is well worth it! I hope I helped answered your question and I didn't turn it into "Diesel Bashing 101". That is my real world experience with these two vehicles. Good luck in your decision.

Don't let a ram 2500 3.42 rear end gears scare you , cummins makes peak torque at 1650 rpm vs the v8 counterparts over 2500rpm

Your correct, but let me grade it differently, don't let fall rear end gears scare you, they allow the motor and turbo combo to work without shifting constantly loosing boost, unless you are at the absolute max weight and not aerodynamic the gearing is fine, rear end gear as a statistic alone is not viable for any info, as it is paired to the transmission my 2016 ram 2500 Cummins automatic transmission is in fourth gear at 25 miles and hour...

I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
I tow with my 06 F250 super duty with a 6.0. i love the reactions when someone asks what motor and i say 6.0. I've put 80,000 miles on it - i did a lot of research and did several key things to keep it alive. I don't do burnouts (even tho i bet it would do a sweet one), i have had it tuned since i bought it, i replaced the exhaust with 4 inch (cat might be missing) i've changed the coolant out several times (leaving it in plugs the oil cooler and the EGR cooler), i replaced the regulator spring (original was weak and killed the injectors) i did install an EGT sensor and run an edge gauge. i did injectors on one side (only one was bad but it's a $900 gamble to only change one). i change my oil every 5000 miles, i run revx or archoil in every change - fuel filters get changed every 10,000 miles and i make sure the EGT is under 400 before i shut it down. i still only have 6-7 degrees delta with 114,000 miles. i did install a coolant filter a long time ago as well. New batteries every 3 years whether it needs it or not (bad batteries kill the FICM). My tune actually causes the EGR valve to close most of the way most of the time. I imagine i will have to do the other bank of injectors at some point and i plan on replacing the turbo as Garrett makes a new replacement with better flow for about $800. it has lots of power, it's comfortable (it rides like a dump truck and steers like a school bus) with leather etc. It tows my boat at 70 while still getting 14-16 mpg. if you take care of it, it will last a long time.

I loved the 6.0...but I was scared to own one.
i got mine with 34,000 miles - previous owner was an older guy that used it to pull his camper about 75 miles to a campground in the spring and back in the fall - he plowed his driveway with it. he traded up every 4 years and kept records of everything so i knew what i was getting. he hit a deer with it when it was fairly new and ended up losing the radiator, so the factory coolant ended up being drained very young. if you were able to get a brand new 6.0 and removed or upgraded the EGR cooler and getting rid of the ford coolant it would probably never have any head gasket problems.

yes, flat and empty, then add a hill , wind and a 7% grade=first gear or second, my point is the rear end gear ratio is irrelevant when there is a transmission in front of it, keeping the turbo working to make power needs you to hold a gear to not loose boost. plenty of real world tests out there for reference on youtube TFLtruck ikes gauntlet, they load trucks up with there max ratings and go up a 8 mile stretch of 7% and back down and they all do great, you can not legally put enough weight in a current 3/4 or 1 ton truck to make it not perform...
