    Humminbird Helix 10

I'm king for a Ram mount for this unit. Any recommendations?

Definitely the 2.25" (size D) units. I've had several, on several boats, all with 9s and 10s, and all are rock solid. They can also be locked down almost theft proof with the use of the wrench if you so desire.

Bought the Ram D 202. Does anyone know what size stainless hardware to use for mounting it to console?

    5/16 is the hole size.
Stainless steel oval head or flat head bolts with nylock nuts and backing of some sort, at least fender washers depending on the mount surface thickness and material.

i have a Helix 10 on the Ram-109VU at my console and love it. Very Very solid mounted on the side and easy to swing into any position. Great mount!

They'll fold under the weight of a Helix 12 ( Yes, I have the wrench too).

I had to truss one up to use it W/aluminum angle - the RAM 109's on the bow are far more stout than the actual gunnel itself.

They may be just "OK" for a 9 or a 10 IMO.

Never owned a 12, but I promise you they are rock solid with 9s and 10s. Had them on both my last two boats, and just put them on the new one.

I just took an 859DI (RAM-D-111 long) off of one and I have had several 7" and 8" 'Birds (898/899/859/859DI/998/999's) on them and I refused to put an 1199 on one even though many have. The brief period I had a 798ci SI strapped on one, that sure was rock solid!

Honestly they're really no where as "rock solid" as the RAM 109 swing arms - which will handle a 12 with ease, and I have done the comparison myself.

I have 2 of the RAM-D-111 in the short and long arm versions, and the short arm is much more acceptable for rough running, but the extra leverage of the long arm falls short in bumpy water.

I know Troy used to have PB pics of when he snapped a long arm in chunks with his wrench with 1198's.

I'm sure guys have "tested" the stated "limits" before!

I'd put 15 lbs on one & not worry.

    https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-D-111U-C

    6 lbs.

    https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-109HU

    10 lbs

Next time you go to re-rig, check either the RAM 109HU or RAM 109 VU models - they're affordable, flexible and quite stout.

Troy - would have been interested a month ago. Maybe OP will want them?

sfw - not sure what you guys are doing, but they've never moved an inch on my last two boats, and I don't expect that they will on this one either. Come to WI and go fishing with me and I'll show you. :D

they will hold in all but the worst situations. one think i found that helps is to tighten the arm and tighten again 15-20 minutes later. The wrench also works but I kept cracking arms
