Using the aforementioned WeeGo on a semi dead battery, wouldn't the rectifer work overtime trying to charge the battery, thus the
potential of burning/damaging said recifier?

What rectifier and why would jumping a battery cause one damage? Rectifiers operate in a lot of equipment 24/7 for decades.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
