Did Aries have 5 different owners? Was it ever sold at a junk bond auction? Was it ever sold at a bankruptcy auction? If not Ranger clearly beat Aries at those items, but who's counting?

I don't have a problem with boat or truck gas... I've got $165k in my rig, a $120 fill up in the boat and $75 fill up in the truck isn't going to "break" me... And no thanks, I like being patrol. I can "shut it off" at the end of the shift and I only have to worry about myself, no supervisor type responsibilities!

Thanks. My first 6 years I rode the projects, didn't have time to chill... I'm in a more laid back area now.

9.5 years left until I get my 20 years and can start drawing a pension, can't wait.....

I would never pay 100K for a boat on my budget. However if my income doubled or tripled I would do it in a heartbeat and never give it a second thought.

How "wealthy" do you have to be for a 200k setup for it to make sense?
My best friend has 3mil in the bank. He drives a old toy. He finally bought a Range rover last week.
Not sure how much you need to make to buy a 100K boat but I know if you go to Galveston, you will see thousands of fishing boats that make a 100K boat look cheap.

We are underestimating the sheer number of wealthy people who wouldn’t bat an eye at spending that kind of coin on a toy

I'm sure, there's a poster here that makes 65k so I guess it doesn't take much.
Like I said not my money. I can't afford a 100k boat my house is 600k. In this market the home is where it's at for ME.

What one makes doesn’t necessarily equate to what one can afford. I’ve worked with people that made $60000 a year and lived in ten million dollar homes plus they had vacation homes. Lots of people don’t even have to ever work at all their entire life. Some married very well or have spouses that make tons of money.

Negative. If someone has one and enjoys it, I'm happy for them. It would take winning the lottery for me spend anywhere close to that on a bass boat though.

You've done really well for a 36 year old police officer. Congrats!

    Appreciate it.

My wife is a teacher, so I didn't marry into money either.

I'm starting to reap the benefits of compounding interest on my investments, it's amazing to watching it grow.

And like I said in a previous post in this thread, everything we have is GOD's, we are just given what we have by HIM. I couldn't be in the financial situation I'm in now without his blessings!

I am 35 and my wife and I paid off our house almost a year ago. We haven't had a car payment in years and it is amazing how much you can save with a decent income and no debt. What's sad is that when we paid our house off we felt like we had to keep it to ourselves because others would resent us or feel like we were bragging. I have no problem with people who finance purchases, it's their money and their life to live it how they see fit. But the thought that you have to make a huge salary, marry into money or have a large inheritance to be debt free is just not true.

NEVER give other people the power to make you afraid to be you or do what feels right for you. Screw 'em. You dont have to answer to any of them. Be proud of your accomplishment.
