    Shimano is dead tome

Just as I thought. I was just turned down again for a warranty on a Cumara rod. This one was broken clean right below the handle. It looked like it was cut with a lazer. Well that’s it with me and ever buying anymore Shimano rods.
I could have two Okuma Scott Martin rods for what I had in that one. Fool me once.

I’ve just got to ask....how did the rod break below the handle? On a cast?

Shimano is just enforcing their warranty properly now.

    1. The cumura has not been made in a few years.
    2. The warranty is against “manufacturer and component” defects that will show up within a month of use.
    3. If it broke (especially where you broke it), it was damaged there. Either someone stepped on it or maybe something in a rod locker?

I’m not trying to be difficult here. I’m being realistic. And go ahead and get tha Scott Martin stick. I’m sure you’ll love it after fishing with a Cumura (sarcasm).

For what it’s worth, I have owned 2 Shimano rods in my lifetime if fishing bass and don’t plan on buying anymore. There are better rods in the same price point IMO.

I've been done. I sent in a few this year that were mine and my son's. 2 crucial drop shot rods. Didn't get a drop shot rod back. First rod was a zodias, second was a Curado. I went back to Daiwa. My son took all the newer rods I had and I sold the older model Shimanos. I think there reels have went down hill too.

I have a first Gen Cumara drop shot rod that I wouldn’t take anything for. Haven’t owned anything newer than that rod or the cumulus so not sure about any of their “new” stuff

I can see the tip breaking on a cast but for a rod to break right below the handle, I don't know man.

For higher end Shimano rods I still have

    Cumulus 6'10 MH
Gen 1 Cumara 7'2 Med xf spinning
Gen 1 Cumara 7'2 Med XF casting
Gen 1 Cumara 7'2 Med Heavy XF casting
Poison Adrena 7'2 Med Fast Casting

I have zero desire to get rid of any of these rods. Light, sharp looking, good performance and comfortable to fish.
