    Mercury going 4 stroke

Not official yet but Mercury was allowing some journalists to ride in new 4.5 and 4.8 four strokes from 300 to 450 horsepower is the rumor I heard on another forum. They are V8's.
I heard the several of the lower horsepower Verado is going away so they can sell the new motors. I am guessing but did not hear that they will get rid of the higher horsepower Verado after these larger blocked motors come out. The Verado has been a 2 star CARB motor and I'm guessing that may be the reason.

Also a guess but the larger 2 strokes days may be numbered. Mercury said they will probably come out with these next year.

Sherm has been saying the Mercury 2 strokes are going away for a few years now. He doesn't have any definite info that I know of though, as to when. Makes sense in light of the recent intro of those new 4 strokes.

I've been told and have been saying for a few years the Merc would do away with 2 strokes. Most wouldn't believe me.

With the introduction of the 175/200/225 four strokes why continue with the same HP 2 strokes?

They don't want t admit the 2 strokes are going away until the new motor is out or they would have trouble unloading the remaining 2 strokes out there

I'm sure they will make parts for 10 years, but they won't be building Optimax in 2019 models starting in July.

The after market will pick up the slack. Great thing about capitalism is if there is money to be made they will be available at a reasonable price.

There is no way a 4 cycle will be the same weight & horsepower & last as trouble free as a 2 cycle. Oh ? Lets end that lack of sales as soon as possible !!

The compressors are for the DI (direct injected) like the Opti. It's my understanding these motors are naturally aspirated EFI's. Also, the turbo charged is the Verado. These are just the 4 strokes.

Seen em, drove them, they are bad ass. 175 to 300. The 250 and 300 are 4.6 liter v-8's, and are about the same wait as the 250 proxs

So the Verado is definitely gone in all horse powers, correct?
