    Steering cables

So I'm almost done with the boat and discovered that the steering cables are very tight. Any quick cures to get them operational that won't break the bank?

The "quick cure" is to just replace them.

I went through all the BS of pumping oil through mine using my air compressor when they were stiff turning. It worked, lasted a couple of years then tightened up again.

If your cables are stiff. They are most likely starting to fray. For safety sake just replace them. Get the numbers off the old cables and look for new replacements on E Bay. I think I found mine (duel) for around $200. I put new cables on in half the time it took me to pump oil through the old ones.

I was just thinking that if I had it torn down that far I should probably just replace them. $320 shipped on eBay. Not a bad deal from what I can tell
