    St Clair info

Thinking of taking my two boys to St Clair around 6/20 or so. I have been there one time many years ago and stayed north of Detroit at some hotel i wouldn't want to stay in again. I have a few questions for you guys in the know.

    1) I've looked at renting a few houses in the area. Some are in the southeast (Ontario) side of the lake. If I stayed there, is there an issue with C&R smallmouth fishing during this time (as it is a week before the official season opens)?
    2) if that isn't a problem, would I be in a good area to fish or do i need to stay somewhere and fish the US side?
    3) Any rec's on places to stay that is safe, clean, and convenient to fishing areas?
    4) There are some places on the northeast side to rent that are right on the water as well (harson's island, fair haven). I would think it could get trashed/rough with a prevalent wind and I'm not sure if the st clair river arms up there have massive no wake zones or anything that I need to know about.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Ontario opens Saturday June 23rd, no catch and release season in Ontario. There are plenty of good places to stay along the m59 (hall road) I94 corridor 15 minute drive to Harley ensign launch and metro launch. Start your trip on the 23rd and stay in Chatham Ontario 15 minutes from Mitchell's bay.

    FYI

LOTS of road construction in the area this year. 696 will be a bear.

You're telling me that on the Canadian side you can't fish for smallies at all until 6/23? So, stay on the US side.
We have stayed at Extended Stay America in Roseville....right next to a Texas Roadhouse and a Famous Daves BBQ....10 minutes from 3-4 ramps.
    At least we had 1987....

    Winter.

Seriously, this year is exceptionally screwed up for construction. With significant portions of I75 and 696 completely closed, its much worse than usual.

Wasn’t bad. I sat at the boat launch and watched everyone walleye fishing for 4 hours while they worked on my boat
