Network helix 9 SI Mega to a Helix 7 SI GN2

I'm sure this has been covered. I searched a little so I'll start a new thread. I currently have the Helix 7 SI G2N. I just bought the helix 9 SI with the Mega transducer. I'm guessing this will network together but will the 7 inch unit get all the advantages of the Mega transducer? Or will it still just have the normal High def picture? Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can link them via Ethernet.
The Helix 7 CHIRP SI GPS G2N will share all sonar technologies and frequencies from the Helix 9 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G2N.

The Helix 7 and Helix 9 have the same total screen pixels. That means the Helix 7 will have sharper images since the pixels will be closer together=more HD.

Did you exchange the Compact SI transducer that is standard with the Helix 7 for the HDSI so it will produce sharper images on its own?

Both units would need a AS EC QDE Ethernet adapter to connect an Ethernet cable to them.

Humminbird has a transducer exchange program for unused and unopened mount package.

That depends on where on the boat the two units will be. "Newer technology" has nothing to do with it.

I will have the 9 at the bow and the 7 at the console with the transducer on the transom

OK, you can do that but when at the bow, your sonar information will be a boat length behind you.

It's practicality depends on how you fish and the presentations you use. Pretty much useless for vertical presentations if you fish when at the bow.

Ok. I understand what your saying. Yes. I will probably put the 7 ducer on my trolling motor head. I have the switch to go between both transducers if I'm up front pitching jigs.
