Lake Gaston, west side/ up lake???

I have never been farther up lake then Hawtree creek. Is it worth spending time up there? Like say past Mussell Shell Island?

Not looking for anyones hot spot, just little guidance.

I think so. Smith creek has a few decent spots. Also the cut through between the islands. Also a few other places little creeks and cuts off the river. I like it up there due to me personally fish rivers more than lakes. Hope this helps. A
