    2006 hpdi/2006 champion 206 5400 rpms wot

New powerhead, new plugs, new bulb, just won't run over 5400 rpm's. Tried 2 different props 24 tempest and a 25 t1. 5400 rpm on both props, only difference is the tempest is 1 mph slower. My cranking battery may need to be replaced, it's several years old. Need some help please.

All fuel filters including high pressure pump screens and injecters serviced?

The injectors were serviced I know. Also the fuel filters. Not sure about the high pressure fuel pump screens though.

Is this usually the fix for this particular problem?

Bought the boat used blown up. Owner had a 27fury on the boat. Said it ran over 6k. I didn't buy that so I bought the props I mentioned before. I've owned 2 other 206's but they had mercury motors. I ran 24 tempest on both at 6k. 72, 73 on both. I'm a big guy so it seems to carry a little better. I appreciate your help so far.

Shouldn't the boat run bad in other areas if it was a stopped up filter?

LOL... You must have an 80+ mph rig....

    Assuming the motor is stock,
    72-73 sounds good to me.

Yes, you should feel a stutter or miss at WOT. It could be the setup. At WOT what kind of lift are you getting, where on the side of the boat is the water contacting the hull.

It's lifting some, but not enough. My wife took a video. It's not out of the water.. for those who have trouble reading, my current boat runs 62.6 at 5400 rpm. LOL...

Get the T1 worked for lift, that might solve the problem if it’s a 250 HPDI. If it’s a 225 you may have to go to a 24 pitch worked for lift. It it’s not high on the pad you will not develop the 6000 r’s that you need. My 250 on a 206 turned a T1 6000. I can assure you that outboard never turned a 27 Fury over 6000 unless it is not stock. The 206 is hard to lift, prop work will get it done. You also need full out trim at WOT.

24 tempest and 25 t1 ran exactly the same rpm.

With what I assume are no symptoms at all other than missing 600 rpm’s, I don’t know. I would probably insure the TPS is at .62vdc at idle setting. Then start looking at the correct values for every sensor, or have it checked on YDS. I’m also assuming you’ve done a compression check on that new powerhead.....

Who built the powerhead? Was it the original head that came with the outboard? CJ
