    97 150 VMAX Running Issues...

Got a 97 150 VMAX I’m having running problems. It cranks good at first. Fast idle around 20 for a couple minutes and it starts to lose rpms...like it’s starving. You can choke it and it will pick back up. You can also hand choke the individual carbs and same results. After a few minutes, engine won’t crank. I’ve replaced plugs, new fuel, checked for prime (no problem), filter good. Could this be a carburetor issue? Boat ran fine one weekend, like crap a week later. Thanks for any input.

Have you checked your fuel pumps?

If fuel pumps are leaking, it will create problems like that.

Is it surging while trying to run or is it not getting to full rpms? My 150ProV was surging one time and it turned out to be the fuel pumps. Just recently I could not get full rpms at WOT and it was sluggish on hole shot, turned out to be the carb to one cylinder was clogged up. Rebuilt carbs and runs like a raped ape.
