    pitting burns on my prop

had her out yesterday to do some pre fishing for a tourney and at the end
of the day i noticed there was small little burn type pits all on my prop
and some on my lower unit.(looked like chicken pocs}. the only problem
i had out there was my starboard tank went dry and started spudering
and then i switched tanks then all was fine. any thoughts?

another thing...i added i vent plug to my 24 raker (used prop) to
see how it preformed....... thinking of takin it out , never happed
before when i had no vent plugs in there..

what the worst that could happen?

Tav, cavitation burns are caused by imperfections just ahead of the burns, it can be something on the hull disturbing the water flow to the motor, generally it's something on the gearcase, a small nick or gouge, the water flows over the imperfection and causes a low pressure area, then bubbles form and when they implode the explosion causes the pitting, you wouldn't think that a bubble popping would cause damage but when it happens thousands of times a second it will. I don't think the vent plug would cause what you're seeing but all those pits at the back of the gearcase could.

how can you stop this? the prop has some dings, bought a used raker 24p by all means no perfect but good enough to run tho...
could that possibly do that ? cuz nothing has changed just swapped props only.
