What are your thoughts on the Mcgard prop lock on a Yamaha sho 250?

Mollie, I have a SHO 250, and a Mcgard prop lock that's sat on the shelf for 2 years. I've never used it because I worry that it does not use a cotter pin. Simply install it torqued at your specified torque, and your supposed to be okay. Unless someone can say from experience, I most likely will never use it, as I worry it would back out. I ended up installing a boat alarm, and I tested it by casually attempting to "change" the prop, and the alarm worked well.

I run that prop lock with no issues. Going on 3 years now.

I run a 400 HP Hydro Tec Motor with a over the hub prop and fat shaft and I do not use or even have a place to insert a cotter pin, I believe you will be fine with out one.

I ran a prop lock on my old boat for 14 years. Never had a problem with it. Just bought a new boat and already put a prop lock on the new one.

Well I'm sold. That's great to know. I was worried I would have a prop laying at the bottom of a lake one day, but again if your running it on a 400HP Hydrotec motor, I think I should be fine.
