    Tempest to Fury 4

Looking at trying a Fury 4 to help get a heavy load up. (BFL co’s like to travel heavy). Currently turning a 26P Tempest Plus @ 5800rpm. I’m not sure if I am going to need a 25 or 24 Fury 4. I don’t have access to try one before I $$ for a new one. Any suggestions/opinions appreciated. (2014 Pro XS 250/2014 Z9/ two 8’ PP)

I run a fury4 25p on my z21 w/ 2 10' poles and hydro plate. I am turning 5800-5850 rpms and have seen 71.5 by myself, getting 68 w/ co and livewells. I had a the 26 Tempest and my boat did not like it. Night and day difference. Many are running the 24p 3 blade fury and getting a little better top end, i have one as a spare and will be running it this w/e. My prop shop did not have a 24 fury 4 so I did not get to try it. Of the 4 props I tried, the fury 4 was the best. Good whole shot, had to intentionally try to blow it out.

I tried a 24p Fury 4 on my 2012 Z9 and it wasn't quite enough pitch. Would turn 6k at 68. Think a 25p would be better. The holeshot and handling is definitely awesome compared to the Tempest.

What kind of load were you carrying? (People, gas, live well water, etc)

Yea I did and I can tell you that it is everything they said it to be. I decided on a 24 Fury4 which is the same prop that Ott Defoe is running on his Z21. The last BFL on Cherokee was the first day with it and I was really impressed. 3/4 fuel, full live wells and heavy tournament load the boat jumped on plane and only lost about 2 mph top end. On rough water was turning 5900 rpm @ 68mph. Highly recommend it.

Did holeshot stay same or improve compared to 3blade? Love my 3 blade once it’s on plane it speeds up fast but getting it to plane is a little sluggish to my liking... also did you adjust engine height or keep same as fury 3 with your results? Yeah

With full wells , full gas and 2 people, i'm sure most props will not be beasts getting out of the hoie. I never like the overall performance of the Fury with my Z9s. But the exact opposite with my Z21.

I would suggest messing with the plugs on your current prop first.

I've got a 24p Fury 3 for my Z21. The 3 blade 24p really surprised me with the hole shot. Even loaded it jumps up on pad, and runs out to 69.5-70mph @ 5800 with 1/2 tank of fuel, empty wells, 2 8ft blades, full tourney load rods and tackle, and (2) 220+ pound fishermen. By myself I see 71.5-72 pretty regularly. I tested a 24p fury 4, and the holes shot was marginally better, but the top end was down 3+ mph. I'm got 2 more props to try. I just finished boxing up another 24p Fury 3 and a 25p Tempest Plus, to send to Croxton to be B&B'd. I really wanted to be unhappy the Fury 3, but so far its been the best choice. I will update after I fun the 25p B&B'd Tempest plus.

Verado motor is a little different than 2 stroke... they’re all open and only going by what I read and that was it won’t make too much a difference so kept unplugged. But maybe I will plug them all to see if makes any diff. ?

My last prop was a 26 Tempest +. The Fury4 jumps me on plane with a heavy load. I have a hydraulic jack plate so yes i do adjust engine height as needed. Compared to the tempest the Fury is a better for my situation. A solid 68 with a heavy load I can live with.

Do you think you could spin the 25? That's my dilemma right now...24 or 25P....I'm not sure which direction to go.

I run the 25 Fury 3 blade on my 08 Z9 and have to run it deeper than most 3.5" to get the lift but with just me she runs 71 or so and with full load around 67. not going to change now considering she's for sale.
