For my 2004 Johnson 150 it is a black/yellow wire for the kill switch.
Thank You, I need to figure out If it's sure or the switch
Does the motor shut off with the ignition key?
Do you have separate "kill switch" or does the lanyard clip around the keyswitch and physically turn the key to OFF ?

As you can see from the back side of the ignition switch the wires are all push on type. the two wires to be concerned with are black for ground and black and black/yellow is the actual kill circuit wire. Your kill switch is designed to kill the engine when the lanyard is pulled off but the motor can be restarted with the lanyard removed. They do that so should you get pitched out with the lanyard attached your partner can restart the motor and come to your aide. Try applying a lite coating of contact cleaner on the ignition switch barrel with the lanyard off and giving the key a few pushes in and then spray again. Then attach the lanyard and try it. The motor should shut off if the key is turned to off.
Here is the diagram
Thank you, went and got the cleaner......too nasty out to mess with it.
Champ.......
The spray worked! Thank you...
