    Mercury XR2 150 not going into forward or reverse

    After replacing impeller not going into gear any suggestions. Shift linkage is moving.

    Most likely you'll have to drop the foot again. Make sure shifter is in neutral at the cockpit. Then carefully shift the lower unit into neutral as well. Now reseat the lower unit to the midsection making sure the male and female ends of the shift mechanism line up correctly. My guess would be that you missed it altogether or accidentally bumped it into gear. Its pretty tricky lining up the water tube and the shift mechanism and the splines of the drive shaft with the end of the crank all at the same time. Not to mention keeping the speedometer hose out of the way....If you're trying to do it yourself, a helper might be needed. An extra set of hands can be very handy.
