Next week I will be hosting a FREE fishing webinar on Mastering the Neko Rig. The webinar is Wednesday at 6:30pm Pacific time. I will be going over how and where I fish the Neko rig to catch big fish.

Hey! Someone else using the heat shrink trick! No idea why people use o-rings still, but hey, their loss! I caught a bunch of fish last year on a Neko rigged Trick Worm with heat shrink, just like what is pictured. Dynamite combo for sure.

I'll be tuning in. Thanks for sharing!

Just a heads up: the webinar is listed at 6:30 PM Eastern on the registration page. Probably want to fix that!

Just works better than a o-ring. I fish wacky worms, and actually run the hook thru the heat shrink. Can catch about 10 fish per worm most of the time for a trick or zoom finesse worm.

What size heat shrink do you use? I am guessing I can get it at Home Depot or some other home center? Different sizes for Senko's and trick worms? Thanks

I wonder if the heat shrink would react with elaztech? I know you can't mix z man worms with regular plastics - might have to experiment this summer

Here is a video that shows how to use heat shrink instead of o-ring.

finesse worms take a smaller size, but I can't remember what it is. I just brought a few packs of various sizes. I rarely heat mine, just buy sizes that fit.

    I have been using these..http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Frenz...ge-WACORG.html
I also rig the hook perpendicular to the worm through the shrink wrap or saddle

do you put hook piercing thru or under, (like you would on an O ring), the shrink wrap

I like the clear silicone rubber tubing even better than the heat shrink.

I'm interested in this as well... do you guys rig it where the hook point pierces the shrink wrap OR does it sit in the bend of the hook like an O ring?

1/4” for finesse worms and trick worms, 3/8” for senkos. Doesn’t react with elaztech.

For regular wacky worming I’ll stick the worm through the heat shrink, actually piercing it, getting the point perpendicular to the worm. Better hookups, and as mentioned it allows for a lot of fish per worm, even with Yamamoto senkos. I’ll stick the hook under the heat shrink when I want it to be more weedless as the body of the worm shields the point, and in a Neko rig. Hook point away from the weight in that setup, is weedless in such the same way a jig that rides point up is weedless. Certainly possible to snag it up, but comes through stuff pretty well. This also makes the rig hop across the bottom more naturally instead of coming in sideways.

Heat shrink works well for nose hooked dropshot baits as well. Might be something to try!
